A spokesperson with the Sheriff's Office said a man passed away about 20 years ago and left a hand grenade and other explosive devices at his property.

Someone was cleaning up the property and found about the sticks of dynamite, prompting them to call the Sheriff's Office.

Some blasting caps were also found.

The EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) team is on scene attempting to neutralize the explosives.

The Sheriff's Office put an evacuation in place for 1,000 feet from the site.

It also opened up the convention center in Hawthorne as a shelter for those who evacuated.
