On Monday night at the Reno-Stead Airport, the community was invited to a Citizens' Advisory Board meeting on the future of the 395 North Valleys Project.Â
95% of the work has been completed on drainage, electrical, and transportation systems for Phase 1A, which includes improvements from North McCarran Boulevard to Golden Valley Road.Â
Additionally, there is an 80% completion of the road repaving. NDOT informed the community of the future of the project from Stead Boulevard to Golden Valley Road.Â
The improvements will include continued lane widening and a double-turning lane left onto 395 from Golden Valley. It will also feature accessible sidewalks and bike paths.Â
We spoke with NDOT about the project,Â
"After the construction is finished, the community will see three general-purpose lanes in each direction. And, in addition to that, we actually added an auxiliary lane or merge lane in each direction," said Nanette Maxwell with NDOT.Â
Much of the public comment and feedback centered on frustration about the amount of traffic due to construction.
NDOT says that this widening is necessary due to the increasing number of drivers. The department touched on how important it is to have a dialogue with the community,Â
"This is very important for the department to hear the community feedback, and also to provide them updates on what is going on with the North Valleys Project."
