The Storey County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of its police horse Angus.
The sheriff's office says on its Facebook page that Angus died of eye cancer and that they only recently added Angus to its mounted unit.Â
"Angus was another true gentle giant who had served several years full time with the Kansas City Police Department, beginning when he was four years old. He was adopted by a local family several years later, after Kansas City sadly lost their funding to support their mounted unit. This same family generously donated Angus to the McCrearys to replace the loss of Diesel."
The sheriff's office ended its statement with, "Hopefully some of you got to see Angus in action the few times he was able to go out on patrol before his much too short tenure was ended. We had so many plans for Angus, as a family, and as a police horse."
