Truckee Police are asking people to watch out for a scammer pretending to work for the Truckee Police Department.
In a post to their Facebook page, Truckee Police say a person calling himself Lt. Mark Peluski from the Truckee Police Department is calling people saying they need to clear up legal issues and asking them for money.
They say the Truckee Police Department will never call to resolve legal fees or request payments over the phone.
They advise people to not provide any personal information, including credit card information, or make any payments to anyone trying asking for money over the phone.
