The University of Nevada, Las Vegas' College of Education is leaving the former Twitter at the end of 2023.
In a statement posted to the UNLV website the College of Education said the platform, now known as X, is not in alignment with their values.
"The tragic incident on our campus on December 6, 2023, underscores the importance of our decision. We cannot participate in a forum that, through its policies and practices, fosters racism and encourages fear in traditionally marginalized communities, including our BIPOC and LGBTQ+ colleagues and students," said one part of the statement.
The college said they are committed to remaining connected to their community through other social media platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok.
