APTOPIX Uruguay Pope Latam

Pope Leo XIV has arrived in Uruguay to start a three-nation tour of South America. This visit comes less than a month after his lung surgery and marks the first papal visit to Uruguay in nearly four decades. Uruguay, known for its secularism, separated church and state over a century ago. The pope's visit aims to reconnect the country with its Catholic roots. After Uruguay, Leo will visit Argentina and Peru, where he spent two decades as a missionary. Despite the country's secular nature, the visit has sparked enthusiasm, with many eager to see the pope.
