Ukraine’s allies have made major progress toward defending the country if a peace deal is struck with Russia. Leaders from 27 European countries and Canada, as well as U.S. representatives and other officials, discussed plans in Paris. They said they would provide Ukraine with equipment, training and support to deter future Russian attacks. The U.S. would lead efforts to monitor a potential ceasefire. U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said progress was made but warned challenges remain. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted commitments need ratification. The size of the supporting forces was not made public, along with many other details of the plan. Russia has not commented on the talks.
