Hallegua, a Paradesi Jew, and Josephai, a Malabari Jew, maintain their synagogues despite dwindling numbers. They represent the final chapter of a once-thriving Jewish community that lived peacefully with Hindu, Muslim, and Christian neighbors. The Paradesi Synagogue, now a tourist attraction, relies on visitors for services. Josephai rebuilt the Kadavumbagam Synagogue with help from people of various faiths. Both men express pride in their heritage and a deep connection to their history, despite the challenges of preserving it.
