Firefighters have entered a charred ferry in Philippine waters after a fire onboard left 84 people missing and at least five dead. Images released by the coast guard around midday Friday showed three smaller boats near the MV June Aster, which appeared to have stopped emitting smoke as personnel walked on the outer portion of the ship. Rescuers struggled to get into the ferry Thursday due to smoke and heat. The ferry sailed from the capital, Manila, on Wednesday evening and was off the village of Turda near its destination of Coron in Palawan province when the fire was reported. The coast guard and other vessels have rescued 43 people.
