After last year's winter season, our water table is doing well overall, but with our recent dry weather the drought monitor is getting a little worse. We are in the abnormally dry level right now in western Nevada which means we're rather dry, but not in a drought yet. 

Dry thunderstorms are known to start multiple fires in the area, and it's something the National Weather Service and fire crews are keeping a close eye on.  

A busy fire season could be in store for Northern Nevada fire agencies this summer. 

In order to become good at something you have to have a passion for it. Forecasting in Reno can be a challenge. But it can also be a lot of fun.
