Facebook says it paid contractors to transcribe audio clips from users of its Messenger service. The practice raises privacy concerns, as users aren't typically aware that humans are reviewing audio.  

Facebook could be facing a multi-billion dollar fine after a European regulator said it's launching an investigation into the company over failure to protect user privacy. 

Britain's Information Commissioner has slapped Facebook with a fine of 500,000 pounds ($644,000).
