The U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Nevada says a northern Nevada cardiologist pleaded guilty on Monday to distributing prescription drugs oxycodone and hydrocodone to patients without a medical purpose.

A former cardiologist in Elko has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for illegally prescribing opioids to patients.
