Friday afternoon, with heavy hearts, the Northern Nevada Muslim Community Center still conducted prayer, despite the mass shootings at two New Zealand mosques.  However, they did contact local law enforcement for an increase in security presence. 

The president of the Northern Nevada Muslim Community described the attack in Quebec City as a wake-up call, and a reminder to be extra vigilant. They are hiring a security company and asking all their worshipers to enter and exit the building in pairs.

In the wake of the massacre in Orlando, Florida, the local Muslim community is reaching out to non-Muslims for understanding.
