Gumweeds are very common in the Intermountain West and do well here in Northern Nevada. With more research we might just be using these weeds to fuel some of our cars and planes in the future.  

Glenn Miller is leading the effort in a project at the University of Nevada, Reno to convert roadside gumweed into biofuel, which could help contribute to fuel supplies for the military.

On Wednesday, there was a big turnout at the University of Nevada for a discussion to talk about the possible environmental impacts of fracking.
