Regional officials say high-level delegations from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey are in Tehran for talks aimed at preventing renewed fighting between Iran and Israel and the United States. Saudi Arabia’s defense minister, Pakistan’s army chief and Turkey’s intelligence chief are meeting with Iranian officials on Monday to push for a diplomatic agreement with Washington. The discussions also address Yemen and attacks by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels. The diplomatic effort comes amid escalating threats ahead of Israel’s election Tuesday and the U.S. midterms next week. Iran says diplomacy remains possible but rejects U.S. demands for surrender, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned of potential Iranian attacks.
