A congressman says he was detained by Israeli settlers and then the Israeli military as he toured the West Bank. California Democrat Ro Khanna says he was visiting a Palestinian village that had recently been abandoned after it was attacked by settlers. Khanna says armed men approached his group and taunted them. When the Israeli military arrived, Khanna said soldiers chatted with the settlers and didn't let his delegation move on. Only after a contacting the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem and Israeli police could they proceed. Khanna posted an account of the incident on the social media site X.
