A tornado has ripped through a small village in southern France, damaging about 300 homes and injuring dozens. Authorities said Tuesday the tornado struck Pomas, a village of about 1,000 people, on Monday. Rescue teams continued searching through ruins, though no one was reported missing. Thirty-nine people were injured, with 20 hospitalized. Emergency centers have opened for displaced residents. The Pomas school was partially destroyed, but officials assured children could attend classes in nearby towns. About 1,400 households were still without electricity Tuesday morning. The region was under a thunderstorm alert with strong winds recorded.
