The Nobel Prize in literature will be awarded by the Swedish Academy in Stockholm. The announcement will be held Thursday. Last year, Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai, whose surreal and anarchic novels combine a bleak world view with mordant humor, won the Nobel Prize in literature for work the judges said upholds the power of art in the midst of “apocalyptic terror.” The Nobels for medicine, physics and chemistry were announced earlier this week. The Nobel Peace Prize announcement is expected Friday and the final Nobel this year will be the economics award Monday. The prize money this year is about $1.2 million, whether for an individual, small group of laureates or organization.
