Area community and religious leaders will join local law enforcement agencies for a public forum Thursday night inside the Washoe County Commission Chambers.

This event invites the heads of police departments of the Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County area and gives the public the chance to personally ask questions to the law enforcement officials.

Law enforcement agencies from across northern Nevada will host a free symposium to take questions from the community on Friday in Reno.

A local church hosted a vigil this weekend for the lives lost in recent shootings in Minnesota, Louisiana, and Dallas. It was a full house on Sunday afternoon at Word of Life Ministries in Reno for the Empowerment Vigil.

Northern Nevada law enforcement is creating a dialog with the community to prevent those issues between race and policing from happening here.
