Salt Lake jumped on Aces starter Matt Koch in the top of the first inning. The Bees came around to score five runs on five hits thanks to a leadoff home run from shortstop Luis Rengifo.

The road trip through Albuquerque began with an 8-2 loss at Isotopes Park. Right-hander Kris Medlen was tagged for his fifth loss of the season, moving Reno to a record of 17-24 on the year. Medlen went 5.1 innings, allowed five earned runs on eight hits and struck out five.
