A Lake Tahoe woman has been identified as the person who died in a small plane crash near Santa Barbara.

The University of Nevada, Reno says its fire cameras spotted or tracked 240 fires in Nevada and California in 2017.  

Firefighters are close to completing containment lines around the remnants of the huge and costly wildfire that scorched two Southern California counties this month. 

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) - Officials say the massive wildfire that California has been battling since early December is now the third-largest in the state's history, with 259,000 acres burned so far and the flames only 40 percent contained.

A wildfire west of Santa Barbara is still burning out of control in coastal canyons above the Pacific Ocean. The 4,000 acre Sherpa Fire is currently 5% contained. 

Nevada scored two runs in the seventh and two in the ninth, but couldn’t rally past Fresno State on Sunday afternoon in the series finale. The Wolf Pack fell just short, 7-6, at Pete Beiden Field.

The FAA is investigating a crash in Santa Barbara that involved a small plane registered to a Minden area man.

The Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office says a college student who was reported missing earlier this month - returned to her dorm room at Sierra Nevada College Tuesday afternoon.

The Nevada softball team committed three errors and fell to UC Santa Barbara 6-2.
