Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo sent a letter to President Biden on Thursday urging him to slow inflation by curbing federal spending.

Overall spending has slowed from the pandemic-infused splurges and shifted increasingly toward necessities like food. 

Inflation reached 7.7% in October from a year ago, down from a peak of 9.1% in June. 

The bill finances the federal government through Dec. 16 and buys lawmakers more time to agree on legislation.

This additional spending authority will allow the state to receive federal reimbursement more quickly for planned projects.

Back-to-school shopping is one of the biggest retail periods of the year, second only to the winter holidays.

It is not entirely clear whether Twitter’s board will accept the $1 billion breakup fee or if there will be a court battle over the deal.

The number of people quitting fell to 4.3 million in May, down about 60,000 from April and below a record 4.5 million in November.
