The Russian Embassy in Rome has blamed Ukraine for a deadly weekend bombing at a Moscow restaurant, describing it as an attempt to intimidate the Italian community in Russia. The embassy said “Kyiv terrorists” wanted to “scare Italians working in Russia." It said the attack Saturday night on the Balzi Rossi restaurant killed five and injured 19. The Russian Foreign Ministry did not comment on the statement, which gave a higher death toll than the agency investigating the bombing. The National Anti-Terrorism Committee said the bomb killed three people and injured 21 others. There was no immediate comment from Ukraine.

Moscow's mayor has called a bomb attack on a restaurant a "brutal terrorist act" but hasn't specified who is responsible. The blast on Saturday at the Balzi Rossi, an upscale Italian restaurant, killed three people, including the woman bomber, according to Russian state media. At least 21 people were wounded. A probe into the attack is underway, with no one yet claiming responsibility. Earlier this year, Russia announced tighter security after assassination attempts following the invasion of Ukraine. So far, authorities haven't linked this blast to those attacks or the war in Ukraine.
