President Donald Trump may try to channel the role of cowboy as he heads to the first-ever off-year Republican convention in Dallas beginning Wednesday. The president plans to energize his core GOP supporters by making the Nov. 3 midterm elections chiefly a referendum on himself and his record. Trump is to speak both nights. His MAGA Inc. super PAC has announced it is beginning to use its $400 million to influence tight races nationwide, though how much will ultimately be spent remains to be seen. Some Republicans are skipping the event, preferring to campaign back home. Others relish the chance to share the spotlight with Trump, despite his low approval ratings.
