Unlike in World War II when vets were hailed as heroes when they came home, the Vietnam War was so controversial that its veterans didn't get that kind of homecoming. As a result, many vets didn't seek out the benefits they earned, and became isolated from the community. The local VA is trying to remedy that.

The Honor Flight Network has flown more than 100,000 veterans to Washington D.C. for an all-expenses paid day of honor. Locally, Honor Flight Nevada has flown more than 800 veterans.  Tonight, hit prime time series NCIS will base their episode around the nonprofit organization.
