Tuesday's decision marks the first time the Geneva-based trade body has ruled against a series of tariffs that President Trump’s administration has imposed on a number of countries, allies and rivals alike.

The Trump administration says it plans to impose tariffs on goods from the European Union on Oct. 18.

The Trump administration is filing a challenge at the World Trade Organization against China, the European Union, Canada, Mexico and Turkey for retaliating against American tariffs on imported steel and aluminum.
