A traffic stop in west Placer County turned into a short pursuit before deputies arrested a man who they said ran from an SUV and crossed several medians while trying to get away.
According to the Placer County Sheriff's Office in an online post, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle near Industrial Avenue and Athens Avenue shortly after 11 a.m. on Friday. The driver did not stop, leading deputies down Industrial Avenue.
The pursuit ended near Galilee Road, where the driver, later identified as 35-year-old Tommy Villarreal of Lodi, drove across a parking lot and over several medians before getting out of the SUV and running.
Deputies chased Villarreal and took him into custody, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Villarreal was booked into the South Placer Jail on several felony charges, including evading a police officer. He was also booked for possession of meth, paraphernalia, burglary tools and a fake CDL.
The Sheriff's Office said Villarreal also had outstanding felony warrants from agencies in the Bay Area for kidnapping and domestic violence.
The California Highway Patrol assisted with air support, along with the Roseville Police Department and Roseville Fire Department.
