The Washoe County Sheriff's Office used a drone to help track down a suspected DUI driver Thursday night.
It started with a report of a driver failing to maintain a travel lane on Sun Valley Boulevard.
Drone pilots with the sheriff's office found the car on Leon Drive and followed it to a nearby home. Pilots then gave that information to responding deputies who then made contact with the driver.
According to the sheriff's office, 38-year-old Manuel Sanchez-Martinez was arrested for driving under the influence.
In a post on Facebook, the Sheriff's Office said,
"This response was an outstanding example of how technology continues to enhance the way deputies respond to calls throughout our community. By deploying DFR and integrating live 911 data, pilots quickly established visual confirmation and relayed precise information to deputies before they arrived on scene. This level of coordination allows for faster, more informed responses and adds an extra layer of situational awareness, ultimately improving public safety outcomes for our community and our deputies."
