Governor Lombardo has signed a bill into law that targets 'ghost kitchens' for impersonating real restaurants on food delivery apps.
Assembly Bill 116, which was signed on May 26th, now requires food delivery apps only work with licensed businesses that also have county health certificates.
It would also impose civil penalties for businesses who violate the law and requires food delivery service platforms to remove restaurants from their platforms if they violate this law.
The new law starts January 1, 2026.
