There are plenty of ways to spend Memorial Day weekend; some want to spend the time relaxing in nature.

Many people we talked to said that although this holiday weekend can be a little busier than others, they're looking forward to getting out in nature and spending time with their family.

They say it's expected for campsites to fill up fast during the summer, so they're not bothered by it.

Matt Melilli a camper from Verdi, said, "My daughter likes to hear spooky stories, so I got to make them up, and she loves them. I think they're horrible, but it’s a good time to connect and sit down with friends and family."

They say the best thing to do when it comes to camping is to get out there and try it; most things you learn as you go.

The more you do it, the more you'll start to figure out what becomes essential for your family.

Many recommended bringing board games, bikes, and a good pair of shoes for walks and hiking.

Keira Baucome another ccamper we spoke with from Reno/Carson area told us, "Cornhole, playing games, playing cribbage with family, card games in general are a big one. And also, I spend a lot of time reading because it's really nice with just nature around you. UNO, I always love a good game of UNO.”

They told me planning ahead and being familiar with the campsite will allow you to know exactly what to bring.

Alan Rabb ac amper from Georgia told us, "We didn't bring our bikes on this trip, but usually when we're closer to home, we take our bikes, we go hiking, we go for little walks, we, play games, play cards or play Yahtzee or something like that, and then when we're not in the campsite, we go in and we see the towns that we're in."

Many people we spoke with said that the camping community is always willing to help newcomers when needed.

Whether that's sharing food or equipment and sometimes even helping set up camp.

They say one of the best things about camping is getting to know who you camp next to, because a lot of the time they may not be from the same area.

Rabb said, "Just take it slow and ask other people for help. One of the people we're traveling with, a friend of mine named Todd over here, he just helped the guy back in. That's only on his second trip, and so that's the type of thing that you do. You help out your neighbors."

Many of the campers said they enjoy barbecuing the traditional hot dogs and hamburgers, but almost every one we spoke with said tacos are always on the menu for them.
