The City of Reno has announced the launch of its new "Adopt-a-Flower" program, offering local businesses the opportunity to sponsor flower baskets and beds that enhance the vibrancy of the city.

A total of 80 hanging flower baskets and 10 flower beds are available for sponsorship.

Participants in the program will receive public recognition, including signage placed near their adopted basket or bed, as well as acknowledgment on the City’s website and Parks and Recreation social media platforms.

The displays feature a carefully selected assortment of flowers, cultivated in the City of Reno’s greenhouse several months in advance to ensure healthy and robust plants for the growing season.

The sponsored baskets and beds will be installed throughout downtown Reno, Idlewild Park, Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center, and the roundabout on Virginia Street in Midtown.

“The preparation for our downtown flower displays begins well before spring arrives,” said Ryan Sharrer, the City of Reno’s Horticulturist. “We take pride in choosing plants that will not only thrive in our climate but also bring a welcoming and colorful atmosphere to not only the downtown corridor, but the entire City.”

Sponsorship tiers range from $300 to $1,500, allowing sponsors to adopt either individual baskets or larger flower bed areas.

Installation of the flower baskets is scheduled for May, followed by the flower beds in June, aligning with the peak of pedestrian traffic downtown.

The displays will remain in place until the first frost, typically occurring in October.
