DECEMBER 15 UPDATE:

Firefighters are raising money for the family of a Truckee Meadows firefighter and his wife, who died in a crash earlier this month.

The Truckee Meadows Firefighter Foundation established a Firefighter Family Assistance Fund to help Ryan Rizzuto's family.

He and his wife died in a crash on U.S. 50 near Kyburz on December 7, while their two children were hospitalized with serious injuries.

They have set a goal of raising half a million dollars.

DECEMBER 10 UPDATE:

Two people who died in a crash on U.S. 50 near Kyburz were identified on Wednesday.

The victims have been identified as Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Ryan Rizzuto of Reno and Danielle Marie Rizzuto of Reno, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division.

A procession was held for Battalion Chief Rizzuto on Wednesday.

Two people are dead after a pickup truck crashed into a tree along Highway 50 near Kyburz on Sunday afternoon.

CHP in Placerville says two children in the backseat suffered major injuries and were taken to Renown for treatment.

Troopers are investigating whether speeding played a factor in the crash.

The Chevy truck was the only car involved.

The names of the driver and passenger haven't been released.
