A Chicano Movie Night is being held at the West Wind El Rancho Drive-In on Saturday night.
The event will feature two movies, as well as vendors, food trucks, Chicano music, lowriders and classic cars, and more.
The featured movies are "Born in East L.A.," directed by and starring Cheech Marin, originally released in 1987, and "Mi Familia" from 1995, starring Jimmy Smits and Edward James Olmos, as well as an initially uncredited Jennifer Lopez.
The event is intended to celebrate great Chicano men and women in music and film and highlight the struggles of Mexican-Americans, according to a release from THE FUNKTION Chicano Market, which is hosting the event.
10 percent of all proceeds from the night will go to the organization Volunteer Attorneys for Rural Nevada (VARN), which provides free legal services to qualifying families in the community, including immigration, domestic violence, and civil legal matters.
The event will go from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. on July 25, with "Born in East L.A." starting at 8:30 p.m. and "Mi Familia" following at 10:45 p.m.
General admission is $30 per car and includes all passengers. It is $25 for classic and custom cars and also includes all passengers.
