Drivers moving through a busy stretch near downtown Reno will need to plan for detours over the next several weeks as work enters its final phase.
According to RTC Washoe in an online post, the Arlington Avenue and First Street intersection is set to close starting Monday, March 23, through Monday, May 4.
Crews will complete final improvements in the area, including pouring new sidewalks, curbs, and gutters, along with paving the intersection.
The closure will impact cars, bicyclists, and pedestrians traveling through the area.
During the work, drivers heading west will be detoured from First Street to West Street, while eastbound drivers will be rerouted to Ralston Street to reach Second Street. Pedestrians can use Roff Way as an alternate route.
RTC Washoe said this will be the last intersection closure needed at First Street and Arlington Avenue as the project moves toward completion. Once the work is finished, First Street is expected to reopen to both eastbound and westbound traffic on May 4.
Officials said they appreciate the community’s patience as crews complete this phase of the project.
