One person is dead, and two people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a crash on U.S. 95 near Luning, on Tuesday, July 2.
The crash occurred on U.S Highway 95 near mile marker 22 in Mineral County, three miles south of the town and 28-miles south of Hawthorne.
According to Nevada State Police Troopers (NSP), around 10 p.m. last Tuesday, a green semi-truck, driving south on U.S. 95 in the southbound lane crossed over the solid yellow (no passing) centerline into the northbound lanes to pass a car.Â
NSP then says the semi-truck hit a Saturn Ion sedan head-on, causing it to catch on fire and become fully engulfed in flames.
A third car, a black Toyota Camry sedan, was disabled after it hit debris from the crash, neither occupants of the car were injured.
The unidentified Saturn driver died on scene.
The driver and passenger of the semi-truck were transported to a nearby hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
