USA Parkway at Innovation Way has reopened to limited traffic following an earlier closure caused by a water main break.
Storey County says traffic is currently flowing in both directions using the southbound lanes, with one lane of travel in each direction.
Crews worked overnight to complete the water main repair, and now they need to repave the road, which is estimated to be finished around early afternoon.
Crews did say they will have to repair the southbound lane eventually, but will not be working on that side of the road today.
Drivers should be aware of the following traffic conditions:
* Traffic is open in both directions using the southbound lanes.
* Only one lane of travel is available in each direction.
* Northbound lanes remain closed at this time while repair work continues.
* Drivers should expect delays and proceed with caution through the area.
The cause of the water main break remains under investigation.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Storey County is reporting a road collapse due to a water main break that is closing USA Parkway in both directions.
The road is closed in both directions between Sydney Drive and Norway Drive, according to a spokesperson from the Nevada Highway Patrol.
There is no through access from U.S. 50 to I-80, according to a release from Storey County on Facebook. Alternate routes are required, and people should expect longer travel times.
Access to the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center is still possible using I-80.
A spokesperson for the TRI General Improvement District says they hope to have one lane open in each direction on USA Parkway tonight in advance of the morning commute.
Once the northbound lanes reopen, the southbound lanes may need to be closed due to NDOT concerns about pumping in the area.
Repaving may also be needed. Storey County says the closure may be long-term while repairs are completed.
There is no estimate on when all four lanes might reopen.
It remains unknown what caused the leak.
