The City of Reno will begin restoration work at Idlewild Park on Tuesday.
The project will rehabilitate the park's southernmost pond according to a release from the City.
Work will include repairing the deteriorating rock walls surrounding the pond, and seeks to preserve the pond's historic qualities while ensuring its structural integrity and water retention.
Work is set to begin on Tuesday and is expected to continue through late spring of next year.
The project will include pouring new concrete stem walls to reinforce existing rock borders on the pond's west, north, and east shores.
A high-density polyethylene liner will be installed on the pond floor to enhance water retention.
Portions of Idlewild Park’s parking lots and pond areas will be closed for the duration of the project. The multi-use path through the park will remain open for public use.
The project is funded by $1.6 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds, as approved by the Reno City Council.
