With a storm expected to roll through the region over the next day, wind has picked up around the area.
With the high winds, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has had to announce some restrictions to area roads.
On I-580 from U.S. 395 ALT to SR-431 (Mt. Rose Highway), vehicles over 9 feet tall are currently prohibited.

Officials from Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue are asking locals to be prepared for the conditions by securing all outdoor items, and not doing any outdoor burning.

The National Weather Service in Reno (NWS) has issued the following advisories:
- Wind advisory in effect for Surprise Valley and far western Nevada from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. today.
- Lake Wind Advisory in effect for Pyramid Lake from 11:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. today.
- Lake Wind Advisory in effect for Lake Tahoe from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. today.
