It will be hot this 4th of July, but it’s been much worse in years past. The hottest 4th of July on record in Reno is 106 degrees, set back in 2007. For South Tahoe, the record is 91, also set back in 2007. We also made it up to 100 degrees in Reno on July 4th, 2024. It could be worse though. The record for Las Vegas is 115 degrees, and this year they are forecasted to make it up to 102 degrees.
The average high this time of year is 91 degrees. No measurable snow has ever fallen at the Reno Airport on the 4th and one, one hundredth of an inch of snow has to fall in order for it to count as measurable.
We’ve been spoiled lately with highs in the 70’s and 80’s, but it will be a taste of reality come this weekend. The ice cream forecast calls for two ice cream treats this weekend and into next week as well. Some of the models are hinting at upper 90’s by Friday, but it’s too far out to give an answer.
