Latest sunrise times

Keeping Daylight Saving Time permanent is up for discussion, as it changes when the sun rises and when it sets.

States closest to Canada would have a late sunrise in December, with Bismarck, North Dakota, not seeing the sun until 9:30 a.m.

Places like Reno are somewhere in the middle, pushing 8:20 am at the end of December. On the other hand, the sun would set in Reno around 5:45 p.m. at the end of December if DST stays the same.

If we don’t change our clocks, that means we would not fall back during the fall season.

This is why sunrises and sunsets would be an hour later.

Sunrises and sunsets change throughout the year due to the change in seasons. The earth is tilted at a 23.5-degree angle and rotates around the sun in an elliptical-shaped loop.

Sunrises are earlier in the summer, and sunsets are later. The earth is tilted towards the sun in the summer and away during the winter.
