Ice cream instead of pumpkin spice and shorts instead of hoodies. It will feel like summer through the end of the workweek before an upper level low moves in over the weekend. Records are within reach once again, especially on Wednesday. Reno already tied two daily records this month over the weekend, with a high of 91 degrees on Saturday and 89 on Sunday.
The average high this time of year in Reno is 75 degrees, and we’ll be at least 10 degrees above that through Friday. The average low this time of year is 44 degrees, and we’ll be about ten degrees above that too. A warmer than normal fall can mute the fall foliage, so the leaves won’t be as vibrant in the Truckee Meadows this year.
By Friday Reno will have made it at least into the 80’s nine times this month, when Reno usually sees five 80 degree days or hotter, during the month of October. The most on record is 20 set back in 2022. In 2020, it happened 11 times. Most of them occurred in the first two weeks of October, but we also made it up to 83 degrees on October 18th, 2020.
It will be a warm week in South Lake Tahoe as well, with highs in the upper 70’s and low 80’s. They will be in the low 60’s by Sunday with lows around freezing. Records are within reach this week for South Tahoe too, with majority of the daily records in the upper 70’s. Skies will be clear through at least Friday.
