Weather pattern

While January is typically one of Reno’s most active months, it’s been mild and dry in Reno for weeks. A weak system rolled through Tuesday night, but it was minor. A stubborn ridge of high pressure, continues to keep us quiet, and build back in after a weak system moves onshore.

On this date

No records are forecasted to be met this weekend, despite highs being in the low 60’s. Records are closer to 70 degrees, and even last January on the 29th Reno made it up to 68 degrees. Perhaps it’s more so about the stretch of mild weather lately, than the individual highs that seem odd.

Most 60 degree days in January

In first place, Reno saw eight days during the month of January, in the 60’s or above back in 1953, and we’re only looking at it happening one time this month.
