Reno is having a lack luster snow season this year. It’s not the least amount of snow we’ve ever seen, but with only 1.5” falling since November, we’re behind by nearly a foot for this time in the season. The average snow total for Reno from November through January is 12.2.” The average yearly totals is 20.9”.
The least amount of snow ever recorded at the Reno Airport between November and January was set back in 1999-2000, when nothing fell. Our current snow season is in tenth place, with 1.50” of snow falling so far. Only an inch of snow fell between November and January in 2017-2018, taking seventh place for the least amount of snow falling at the airport.
Some years can be quite cold and snowy in Reno. During the months of November through January of 2004-2005, nearly 50 inches of snow fell at the airport. That’s a lot of shoveling. In second place, just over 37 inches of snow fell between 1992-1993 for the same three months. Nearly 26 inches of snow also fell between 2022-2023. Every year is different.
