Rain report for the Reno Airport is only preliminary, not official.
Our storm system is exiting the region leaving some impressive rain totals in its wake. This was a slow moving system with multiple rounds of rain. Nearly a quarter of an inch of rain fell at the Reno Airport, with higher amounts in the foothills. Washoe Valley and Northern Carson City got over a half inch of rain as well. Hail was reported in Washoe Valley on Wednesday as a strong thunderstorm moved through the region.
Areas just east of US-95 also got a good amount of rainfall since Wednesday. According to radar, totaling around an inch since the storm began. Thunderstorms tend to be scattered in nature, and some can be stronger than others. If the cell over Washoe Valley kept moving north Wednesday afternoon, the Reno Airport would have gotten much more rain. However, it moved northwesterly impacting Verdi instead.
According to radar, the higher elevations of Mono County got at least several inches of snow, and Mt. Rose Highway got a few inches of snow too.
