The competition is heating up, not just for NFL football teams, but for fans too. On Saturday's NFC Conference Championships, the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Green Bay Packers, 20-37. Fans of San Francisco's professional football team are excited for the Super Bowl, which is just two weeks away.
"We're very excited! We've been waiting a long time for this. We had a chance a few years ago and we lost, but this time when we go we're going to take that title and we gonna win." said Maurice Walker, a die hard 49ers fan.
Saturday's championship game allowed fans to reminisce early memories of 49ers past victories, and many people said they were fans for as long as they could remember.
"I've been a 49ers fan my whole life, some of my earliest memories were them going to the Super Bowl with Joe Montana and later Steve Young, even as far as Kaepernik." said a local 49ers fan, Tyler Carson. Carson's 9-year-old son was also proudly following his father's footsteps, and wearing a sweatshirt with the team's logo.
Chris Adgett, the assistant store leader at Scheels said with the 49ers recent victories, the sporting goods store has been seeing a lot of people gearing up with red, white and gold.
"Business is definitely good, we see a lot of 49ers fans come through here. The town's really excited. We're really excited for them." said Adgett.
Tyler Carson says it's important to wear your team colors proudly. "You have to rep your home team, and Niners is as close to a home team as we got." said Carson.
