Late Friday night, two intoxicated men playing with a gun lands one in the hospital with a gunshot wound and the other in jail.

On Friday night Lyon County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) responded to a report of someone shot inside of a home located in the 1600 block of Antelope Drive in Silver Springs, Nevada.

LCSO arrived on scene to find a male subject with a gunshot wound. Central Lyon County Fire Fighters and Paramedics responded to the scene as well and provided treatment to the male victim who was subsequently transported via Careflight to an area hospital for further treatment.

Upon investigating the scene, Lyon County Sheriff's Detectives determined the shooting was accidental in nature. The investigation further revealed the two male subjects were intoxicated and playing with a firearm when one of them accidentally fired the gun, shooting the victim.

As a result of the shooting, 27-year-old Silver Springs Resident, Joshua Massengale (pictured above), was arrested and booked into the Lyon County Jail on Charges of Discharging a firearm within a residence resulting in injury. LCSO says his bail is set at $2,500.00.

LCSO says this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
