Agencies to Offer Free Resources for Area Homeless, Pets

Washoe County Regional Animal Services and Nevada Humane Society are partnering together to offer the homeless of Washoe County free resources for their pets.

The event is taking place Tuesday, March 29 at Volunteers of America located at 355 Record Street in Reno, from 10am-1pm.

Regional Animal Services will be providing free dog and cat vaccinations and microchips for pets to homeless residents of Washoe County who have a Clarity card in their possession. Clarity cards can be obtained at the Tom Vetica Resource Center, 355 Record Street in Reno.

Additionally, pet licensing and registration will be provided at $8 for spayed/neutered dogs and $20 for unaltered dogs. The licensing and registration component of the program is to ensure your pet can be reunited if lost and to provide proof of ownership.

Nevada Humane Society will be handing out pet food and pet supplies. Staff from their Animal Resource Center will be providing free assistance and information to those who have questions or problems with their pets.
