Officials: Second Veterans Affairs Employee Dies

Washoe County officials say an alternative care site project for COVID-19 has been put on hold.

They said the 700-bed site, planned for the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, will be implemented if needed with a two-day mobilization and a seven-day build.

Officials said trigger points have been established should there be a need to move forward with the project.

They said the team for the site is working in close coordination with the Army Corps of Engineers to design and convert the 381,000 square feet space.

The site will serve to treat patients with a broad spectrum of conditions from non-acute to critical care, officials said.
