A winter storm warning is up for the Sierra until 6am Friday morning, with heavy snow and blizzard conditions in the higher elevations, travel is not advised by late morning through the evening.
Our valleys will see a few rain and snow showers giving us slick roads for the afternoon and evening drives.
A high wind warning is up until 1 p.m. Thursday.
The storm wraps up on Friday, with a nice weekend on the way.
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) says chain controls are up for almost all area highways for travel through the Sierra on Thursday afternoon. This includes I-80, Mt. Rose Highway, SR-28, US-50, Kingsbury Grade and portions of I-580 and US-395 Alternate.

Governor Sisolak says due to the weather, all state government offices other than essential public safety and corrections personnel are closed effective at 3:30 p.m. This applies to Carson City, Washoe County, Storey County, Lyon County and Douglas County.
