Lake Tahoe is pretty romantic, but Tahoe Amore' is adding even more romance to the mix with authentic gondolas from Venice.
"I worked for a gondola company as a gondolier in Long Beach for 13 years," says owner Drew Sainte Marie. "And I saw that Tahoe offered just what you need to make a gondola company successful. It has protected water and tourism. So I started working on getting a boat and here we are."
Tahoe Amore' has two boats now. One is 36Â feet long and the other is 27 feet. They cater to wedding proposals, anniversaries, romantic outings and evenings out and they are happy to add chocolate strawberries and rose petals. In fact, the ultimate trip has to do with marriage proposals.Â
"I have a proposal sent to me by e mail and then I put it on parchment and into a bottle. When we're out I drop it behind the boat and then spin around and ask them to pick it up. It's great! and I'd say they say 'yes' about 90% of the time," Sainte Marie says with a laugh.
It is a silent glide in a gondola, and while they do offer morning cruises, they say the evenings are the most popular.Â
"I'd say sunset, then twilight and then late at night til midnight when all the stars come out. Hundreds of stars! It's so beautiful!"
